Join us for a special Community Cinema Evening featuring The Choral on Friday 24th April at 7pm.
About the film
The Choral (2025) is a moving British historical drama co-produced and directed by Nicholas Hytner and written by Alan Bennett. Set in 1916 during the First World War, the film takes place in the fictional Yorkshire town of Ramsden, where the local choral society brings together a disparate group of townspeople to perform Edward Elgarβs The Dream of Gerontius β chosen in part because it was not written by a German during a time of wartime tension.
As the community prepares for the performance, music becomes a powerful force for unity, resilience, and hope in the face of uncertainty and loss. Featuring an outstanding cast including Ralph Fiennes, Roger Allam, Mark Addy, Alun Armstrong, Robert Emms, and Simon Russell Beale, The Choral is a thoughtful, uplifting, and beautifully crafted story about community, courage, and the healing power of music.
